An Afternoon in Sitges

After a few days exploring Barcelona with my friends, I decided to venture further outside the city. That's when I found myself in Sitges. It got up very late that day so Sitges was the perfect destination as it was very close from the city and you need only a few hours to explore the area.
I left my hostel around 1 and was able to board a train by 2 pm. Train journeys from Barca departs from Passeig de Garcia or Barcelona Sants. Since I was staying close to Passeig Garcia, I boarded there which turned out to be a right strategic move as I was able to get good seats before a crowd of passengers boarded in Barcelona Sants. Tickets were affordable, €4.10 one way and and €7.20 for a return.
Truthfully, I don't tend to enjoy going to beachy areas unless I want to go for a swim. It's certainly not something I would do on my own. But there was a certain charm to Sitges that I actually enjoyed my brief time there. I particularly enjoyed it’s vibrant labyrinthine streets and the view of St. Bartomeu standing beside violent crashing waves was a sight that left me awed. Although it was still heavily touristed, I felt more at ease in Sitges than in Barcelona. I was glad to have left my hostel that day.
