The first time we visited Mayfield Lavender Farm a couple years back, we went too late into the season and found most of the lavenders were already harvested. This time, we made sure not to make the same mistake.

For as low as £2.50, this lavender haven can be found in Banstead, South London. Only an hour ride away from the city centre, it’s the perfect summer getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. Though it is accessible via public transport, going by car is probably easier. We live in South London so getting an uber from our place was pretty cheap and more convenient than getting two buses like we did the first time.

We got there early in the morning and even then, it was already pretty crowded and extremely hot! However, the farm is vast enough with rows upon rows of gorgeous lilac flowers gracing the eyes, you will certainly find an empty spot for yourself to capture those much needed photos.

They also have a few attractions dotted across the field you could pose with such as a traditional red telephone booth and lovely gazebos and for £2, you can get a whole tour of the farm aboard one of their tractors.

Mayfield Lavender Farm only opens at the start of June and closes to the public at the end of August (9 am to 6pm). Whilst the peak flowering time occurs around mid June, it is best to check the farm’s website here, which posts regular updates on the best times to visit the farm.

Alongside a souvenir shop selling a wide range of lavender products, the farm also features a cafe offering light lunch bites from burgers to paninis. They even have lavender flavoured ice cream!

If you happen to find yourself in London next summer, don’t forget to put Mayfield Lavender Farm in your itinerary!
